Overview

The asphalt penetration tester is an instrument developed using advanced capacitance digital dial indicators combined with numerical control circuits to measure the penetration of asphalt. The instrument meets the transportation industry standard JTG 3410-2025 "Test Code for Asphalt and Asphalt Mixtures in Highway Engineering" - "Asphalt Penetration Test" of the People's Republic of China. It is simple, convenient, and does not require preheating, providing a high-precision advanced instrument for China's highway, municipal, construction, petroleum and other fields.

Purpose

This instrument is mainly used for penetration testing of viscous road petroleum asphalt, liquid petroleum, asphalt and residual asphalt materials after distillation or emulsification tests.

Use of instruments

Set button: Set the descent time. Press the "Settings" button to display the descent time on the screen. At this point, press the "Start" button to increase the descent time by 1 second. Press the "Manual" button to decrease the descent time by 1 second.

Operating Procedures

1. Adjust the penetrometer to make it level.
2. Fill the glass thermostatic water bath with water until the water level reaches the glass bath mouth, and place the water bath on the chassis platform.
3. Transfer the sample that meets the constant temperature requirement into the triangular bracket in the glass water bath, slowly adjust the height of the displacement sensor bracket, install the standard needle of the penetration tester, make the needle tip just in contact with the surface of the specimen, press the start button to start the test, and the instrument will automatically complete one penetration process.
4. After completing three experiments, take the average of the data from the three experiments as the test result.
5. The instrument has been set to a curing temperature of 25 degrees and a needle insertion time of 5 seconds.
6. After each experiment, the instrument must be cleaned and wiped dry in a timely manner.

Precautions

1. Before each experiment, the water temperature inside the insulated dish should be checked and adjusted. After the experiment, the installed standard needle should be removed and wiped clean with cotton or cloth soaked in solvent (benzene or gasoline); Wipe dry with cotton or cloth and store in a dry place.
