1.2 Overview of Functions: The double-end face grinding machine is a crucial piece of equipment for producing standard specimens used in mechanical testing of various non-metallic solids, such as rocks, ores, and concrete. When used in conjunction with the core drill and rock cutting machine manufactured by our company, this machine can produce high‑precision cubic or cylindrical test specimens tailored to your specific needs. It is suitable for use in colleges and universities, as well as in departments related to water conservancy and hydropower, geology and mineral resources, transportation, and construction.
The machine consists of a base worktable, a grinding power head, a variable-speed transmission system, an electrical control unit, and other components. The entire machine is easy to operate, and its automatic feed performance is stable.

3.1 Mechanical Components
The reciprocating motion of the worktable is driven by a motor that operates a gearbox, which outputs a low speed to drive the lead screw in both clockwise and counterclockwise rotation. The lead screw nut is fixed beneath the worktable, thereby causing the worktable to move back and forth.
The machine’s grinding head is equipped with a specialized diamond grinding wheel, directly mounted on the spindles of two dedicated motors. It features two lateral worktables that can move forward or backward—operating either automatically or manually. To engage automatic mode, push the handle inward and lock it in place. When the worktable advances, it strikes the ratchet; the pawl then drives the ratchet in intermittent motion. The ratchet, via a clutch, rotates the lead screw, causing the grinding head to advance. In manual mode, simply pull the handle outward and secure it in place. Each full rotation of the lead screw advances the worktable by 3 mm. Before leaving the factory, the specimen holders on the worktables and the two grinding wheels are meticulously calibrated to ensure precise verticality and parallelism in the ground specimens. Each time, only two parallel surfaces need to be ground; for a cubic specimen with six faces, just three grinding passes are sufficient—provided that each positioning is accurate, so that the resulting test specimens meet the required specifications.
3.2 Electrical Components

Convenient: Since water cooling is used and water may splash, this appliance employs a safe voltage of 36V for its control system. As the power supply voltage and the operating motor voltage are both 380V, the machine must be reliably grounded; otherwise, safety accidents may occur. The power supply must not be connected in reverse, as this could damage the machine.
Installation and Debugging
Before installing and using the machine tool, you must thoroughly understand the instructions regarding installation, commissioning, operation, and other relevant matters.
4.1 This machine should be installed on a cast-in-place foundation; the ground must be level and solid, and the machine’s corner bolts must be securely fastened to prevent vibration during operation.
4.2 After installation is complete, All rust‑preventive areas on the machine tool must be cleaned, thoroughly wiped dry, and then lubricated with mechanical oil on all sliding surfaces and guideways. Then, someone turns the handwheel and grinding wheel to check whether the transfer is functioning properly.
4.3 Connect to the tap water.
4.4 Check whether the circuit and all control components, contactors, and wiring terminals are loose or disconnected.
4.5 The machine must be equipped with a leakage protection device, and the machine tool must be reliably grounded; power may only be connected after inspection confirms everything is correct.
4.6 Turn on the main power supply and press the grinding head button. The grinding head should rotate in the direction indicated by the arrow on the label; reverse rotation is strictly prohibited. (If the power indicator light does not illuminate or the worktable fails to start after powering on, simply swap the positions of any two wires on the input power cable. The machine’s circuitry is equipped with a phase sequence protector: if the phase sequence of the power supply is incorrect, the power indicator light will remain off and the worktable will not start.)

4.7 Press the worktable button again to initiate reciprocating motion of the worktable.
4.8 Push the manual and automatic handles on the underside of the grinding power head to check whether they operate smoothly. If not, apply lubricant to the sliding parts and push the handles a few more times. The impact blocks on both sides of the worktable are used to adjust the automatic feed rate of the grinding wheel; adjust the feed rate according to the hardness or softness of the specimen. When making adjustments over a large range, do not exceed two scale divisions. At the factory, the automatic feed setting for the grinding head is calibrated at one scale division per stroke.
4.9 When the tap for the tap water is turned on, cooling water should flow out with sufficient volume.
Maintenance and upkeep
5.1 After use, the residual rock debris on the worktable must be cleaned, and any water stains should be wiped dry. The feed mechanism of the grinding head must be thoroughly cleaned and lubricated with machine oil. Lubricant should be applied to the guide rails beneath the reciprocating worktable at both ends. After a certain period of use, lubricant should be added between the lead screw and nut to prevent rusting.
5.2 The worktable limit switch is a vulnerable electrical component that may fail over time due to prolonged operation. If the worktable fails to return when all other machinery is operating normally, check and replace the limit switch or the associated AC contactor.
5.3 The grinding head’s working guide rails must be inspected regularly to prevent loosening.
5.4 Regularly inspect the grinding wheel to prevent it from becoming loose.
7.5 Regularly check the parallelism and perpendicularity of grinding wheels and fixtures, and make timely corrections whenever issues are discovered.
5.6 Motors must not operate with a phase missing; otherwise, the motor will be damaged.
5.7 Grinding wheel belongs to Consumables , replace it promptly when it’s worn out.

Precautions: After use, please clean the grinding wheel and slide rail. Once thoroughly wiped clean, apply machine oil to the slide rail to extend its service life.
