Uses and Scope of Application
This instrument is designed and manufactured in accordance with the requirements specified in Industry Standard JTG3410-2025 of the People’s Republic of China, “Asphalt Kinematic Viscosity Test (Capillary Method).” It is suitable for determining the kinematic viscosity of asphalt specimens at specified temperatures as prescribed by the JTG3410-2025 standard.
For example: This method is suitable for determining the kinematic viscosity of viscous petroleum asphalt, liquid petroleum asphalt, and their distillation residues using a capillary viscometer. Unless otherwise specified, the test temperatures are 135°C (for viscous petroleum asphalt) and 60°C (for liquid petroleum asphalt).

The instrument consists of a capillary viscometer, a mercury thermometer, an electric stirring device, an electric heating unit, a temperature controller, a double-layer constant‑temperature bath, and an illumination lamp.
1. Double‑layer constant‑temperature bath: The inner layer features a rigid glass tank with dimensions φ300 × 300 mm, while the outer insulation jacket is an acrylic cylinder measuring φ360 × 285 mm; the space between the inner and outer layers serves as an air‑insulated thermal barrier.
2. The illumination lamp uses LED lights, ensuring clear observation of the readings on the capillary viscometer.
3. Temperature Controller: An intelligent temperature controller featuring PID self-tuning and a three‑digit dual LED display, offering rapid temperature control, fast response, minimal overshoot, and temperature control accuracy of ±0.1°C.
Operating conditions for instrument use
⒈ The instrument should be placed in a dry, clean environment free of corrosive gases and mounted on a level, stable laboratory bench.
2. Methyl silicone oil or glycerin solutions, among others, should be placed in the constant‑temperature bath.
3. When testing samples, an appropriate capillary viscometer should be selected according to the requirements of the experiment.
Instrument Installation
⒈ Open the packaging box and count the spare parts and components. Pay special attention to glassware—especially capillary viscometers—and handle them with care; avoid forcing or twisting them, as this could cause damage.
2 Insert the thermometer and sensor into the corresponding holes in the cylinder head.
3. Next, connect the seven‑pin connector on the rear of the chassis to the cylinder head, and connect the three‑pin connector of the sensor to the three‑pin socket on the chassis.

1. Before using this instrument, carefully read the user manual.
2. Carefully read the industry standard T0619 of the People’s Republic of China, “Asphalt Kinematic Viscosity Test (Capillary Method),” to understand and become familiar with the test method, test procedures, and test requirements outlined in the standard.
3. Prepare all necessary test instruments, materials, and other equipment in accordance with the requirements specified in the standard.
4. Check the operating status of this instrument to ensure it complies with the working environment and conditions specified in the instruction manual.
5. Check the instrument’s enclosure; the external power supply must be properly grounded.
