The asphalt mixture specimens used for preparing Marshall tests are automatically counted and automatically shut down during operation with this instrument. It features a sleek appearance, an advanced structure, stable and reliable performance, and convenient operation.

    Main Technical Parameters

    Project Standard
    Compaction hammer weight 4536 g ± 9 g
    Drop height 457.2 ± 1.5 mm
Compaction frequency 55–68 beats per minute
Inner diameter of the test cylinder 101.6 ± 0.2 mm
    Counting Range 1–999
    Rated Voltage AC 380V 50Hz
    Motor power 370W, 1400 RPM
    External dimensions 550×420×1800

    Install

    1. Unboxing: The instrument should be unpacked at the installation site. During unboxing, operators must handle it with care and avoid any strong impacts or heavy敲ing to prevent damage to the instrument and ensure its measurement accuracy. After unpacking, inspect the instrument to verify that it is in good condition and perform a count according to the packing list.

    2. Installation: The instrument should be installed on a flat, solid concrete foundation with a depth of 320–420 mm. Use M10×130 expansion bolts for the anchor bolts. Taking the workbench surface as the reference, use a precision leveling instrument to accurately adjust and level the installation, achieving an installation accuracy of 0.2/1000. Then tighten the anchor bolts to secure the instrument in place.

    Debugging:

    1. Before connecting to the power source, first check that the power cord is safe and reliable, and ensure that the switch button on the controller is in the off position.

    3

    2. Connect the power supply and verify that the voltage is 380V; the power indicator light should illuminate.

    3. Check whether the motor’s rotation direction is correct. The inspection method is as follows: Place the hammer hook beneath the compaction hammer; if, upon startup, the hammer lifts up, this indicates that the motor is rotating in the correct direction (counterclockwise). If the hammer does not lift, it means the motor is rotating in the wrong direction and the power phase connections should be swapped (simply swap any one of the three wires).

    4. Check whether each button on the controller operates reliably.

    5. Only after the machine has been tested and found to be operating normally may testing proceed.

    Instrument Operation

    1. Lift the guide rod, use the hammer plate for positioning, raise the compression mold sleeve, remove the test mold cylinder, add the appropriate amount of asphalt mixture according to specifications, then push the test mold into the positioning pins, lower the compression mold sleeve, and finally insert the guide rod into the test mold. (See the hammer‑hanging schematic diagram.)

    2. Check that the controller’s power button is in the off position.

    3. Press the power switch; the indicator light will illuminate.

    4. Set the number of hammer strikes according to the experimental regulations; this set value will be stored by the computer.

    5. Press the start button to begin operation; the instrument will display the number of hammer strikes. When the actual number of hammer strikes matches the set number, the instrument will automatically stop working.

    6. Remove the test mold, reposition it after reversing, then press the start button to compact the other side until compaction is complete.

    7. If any abnormal conditions occur during operation and an emergency shutdown is required, simply press the stop button to immediately halt the machine.

    8. After completing work, clean and maintain the instrument, and disconnect the power supply if it will not be used for an extended period.

    Maintenance and Repair

    1. A small amount of lubricating oil should be applied to the chains and sliding keys of the transmission components to ensure smooth operation.

    2. If the instrument exhibits any abnormal conditions, it should be stopped immediately and may only be used again after the fault has been resolved.

    3. If inaccurate counting occurs during operation, check whether the sensor probe is positioned too far from the hanging weight blocks on the chain (note that the correct distance is 2 mm); adjustments can be made if necessary (this distance has already been properly calibrated before leaving the factory).

    4. When the chain is loose, you can open the rear cover, loosen the fastening bolts on the sprocket seat, and adjust the top…

Tighten the bolts (to the appropriate tightness).

The instrument should be wiped frequently to keep it clean.

    Common Faults and Troubleshooting
1 During work, the hammer may fail to be lifted or may come loose during the lifting process. Check whether the drive chain is loose; if it is, adjust the rear adjustment bolt. Verify that the spring plate on the compaction hammer has sufficient elasticity—replace it if necessary—and inspect whether the hammer block and hammer key are excessively worn.
2 The numbers displayed on the screen are abnormal or not being counted. Check whether the sensor probe at the upper sprocket is loose or positioned too far from the lifting hammer block on the chain (note: 2 mm).
3 During the test, it couldn’t be lifted and removed together with the guide rod. Is the chain too loose? Is there a lack of lubricant on the guide rod, or is there too much dirt buildup?
