    This instrument is a comprehensive system comprised of multiple components. It serves as a new type of testing apparatus capable of conducting both rock mechanical property tests and soil mechanical property tests. The direct shear tester for rocks was developed in accordance with the provisions of the national industry standards SLT264–2020, “Code for Rock Testing in Water Conservancy and Hydropower Engineering,” and JTG E41–2005, “Code for Rock Testing in Highway Engineering.” This instrument employs the push‑along method and is primarily suited for direct shear tests on rock blocks, structural planes (such as joint surfaces, bedding planes, foliation planes, and fracture surfaces), as well as on the contact surfaces between concrete (or mortar) and rock (i.e., bonding surfaces). It is also used for testing the interfacial shear strength between concrete and other materials, or for determining the overall shear resistance of composite structures.
